Transponder/Altimeter inspection timing

You have a checkride coming up and neither you nor the CFII know the answer to a pretty standard question that would be asked on an oral. I would be concerned.

Yes, look at what it says, "within the preceding 24 calendar months"

PRECEDING is counting backwards.

If they wanted to count forward, they would say that the cert is good for the NEXT 24 months
 
At this point I might proactively get the inspections done should the ride be delayed or if my plane does not get in the shop for other work in August.
