Hi all - I have a friend who is interested in getting his private certificate. He's started with one of the online ground school courses, and is looking into options for flight training. He has a place near Palm Springs where he spends lots of (non-summer) time, and the preferred approach is to do his flight training down there (as opposed to up here in the Seattle area). Looks to me like Bermuda Dunes (KUDD) is closest to him, Palm Springs (KPSP) and Jackie Cochrane (KTRM) also nearby.

If anyone has suggestions on good flight schools at these locations I'd love to hear them - told my buddy I'd make an inquiry and see what the POA hive mind has to say.

Thanks - Tedric

Can't help you with training near Palm Springs, but I'm up here in the far-left upper corner of the contiguous 48 as well. Where's your home drome.

And welcome to the forum.

Hi Domenick - I'm based at Bremerton, currently performing a slow annual on my RV-6 while the FAA aeromedical folks in OKC review my special issuance application. Hoping to be back in the air within another few months . . . .

Well, so far no responses - so I'm bumping this thread just to see if someone can weigh in.

Thx

I know nothing about this outfit other than they exist.

It’s a start, thanks! My friend Bill reported that other training options in that area appeared to have shut down, from what he could find online, and he found just that one. But no first hand - or even second hand - feedback from anyone.

I would think primary training would be pretty active down there.

Most of the training here takes place in the LA Basin. Redlands is the next closest airport I can think of with a flight school.

Thanks, good to know - maybe Palm Springs is just too full of retired people and golfers, and not enough pilots or want to be pilots. :)

Palm Springs Flying School used to be active but shutdown. Now the main schools are Bermuda Dunes Flight School, and a couple of CFIs with their own schools at Thermal.

Good to know. My buddy has just started training with the CFI at Bermuda Dunes, so hopefully over the next several months I’ll get some feedback from him on how it’s working out.
