Tornado Hits Madison County Ohio Airport (near Columbus) 2/28

Some nasty weather rolled through. Damage is pretty severe.

Tornado damage as severe weather hit the Columbus area

Tornado sirens were activated in Franklin County in response to a confirmed tornado sighting in Madison County near the Franklin County border early Wednesday morning.

We are in NW Franklin County in Dublin, just north of Hilliard. Sirens went off around 5 am, and continued off and on until about 5:50. Madison County Airport looks like it took a direct hit on the big hangar there. Reminded me of the 2019 tornados in Dayton when we lived in Englewood, a northern suburb. Tornado came right down I-70. They said there was damage at WPAFB also. So far, no injuries that I have heard of Which is very good news.

Also got WPAFB, damage to the base, and the museum.

The damage is pretty significant.

Glad there were no injuries. This is going to take a while to clean up. Route 40 is still closed between routes 38 and 56. The Red Cross is providing assistance.
