Took my girls to the beach today, they enjoyed it, even though we took a 100+ mile detour to the west. It took a lot longer, but it was smooth! :D
You have to look for the second baby.;)

Careful, You're gonna get Ted thinking just how many more pups he could rescue if he could move that fast.

Why do you think that hasn't gone through my head for the past 4 years? :D

My dear departed dog's personal best was head out the window at 117 mph in one of my dear departed Alfas. Looks like you can beat that easy!

That dog was the "alfadog" and the Alfa, one of the nicest cars I've ever owned, was sold/traded to a friend that promptly wrecked it

My uncle used to say that if there was any such thing as reincarnation, he wanted to come back as a rich guy's bird dog.

If you're also thinking about John's dogs, they appear to already be pretty-well rescued.

Good point. John seems to have done a fine job of rescuing them himself.

I've said for years that many people spend much more time in conducting thorouth and detailed evaluation of a $500 bird-dog than they devote to the purchase of a $200,000 airplane.

Unfortunately (or is it fortunately) the equation for that is complicated if finances are included. A faster airplane costs more per trip but you can make more trips in the available time. If time isn't the limiting factor a less expensive hauler could make it possible to haul more dogs. YRMV.:D

Heh. Of course, one could point out that one of those can be fixed with money, and the other can't. :) :) :)

One of my dad's friends used to say the same thing "when he died he wanted to come back as a Bleakley dog" :D The little one is one of 7 puppies and we know a couple of the other owners, she definitely won the lottery out of those 7! :D

Oh, I've run the equation many, many times. The reality always is the cheaper hourly aircraft cost is better since my time is free. So it really comes down to how many hours I feel like flying. The 310's speed has made it preferred for this reason, although without a doubt the Aztec was a more efficient hauler in terms of dollars per dog. But that 20-30 kt difference really adds up.

Here's out route from yesterday, the weather shown is this morning, not yesterday, this was an extra 125 miles.:D

I wanted to go flying down at DTS yesterday but was rained out. You keep your bird at Destin Jet or Miracle Strip?

I've used Miracle Strip for 20+ years, so we stayed when they opened Destin Jet, I understand they are both owned by the same guy.;) Just 2 different management teams.

Do you know the history behind the common ownership? We were going there a lot during the startup/buildout of the new place and heard numerous stories from the new guys about the sorry turds that had been there forever and were making their life miserable.

Not really, I spoke to a former neighbor a couple weeks ago, he's retired and works at Destin Jet in customer service. When I mentioned I was still using Miracle Strip, he said it didn't matter because the same guy owned them both. They just remodeled Miracle Strip over the winter, the building can't be more than 5-6 years old? I'm not sure what actually happened, who bought who, but the name I heard wasn't the same as the older couple that owned Miracle Strip for years.

Yep, that makes more sense than if it had gone the other way.

They have cookies at Miracle Strip too, and the girls bring dog treats to my babies, they prefer MS! Jay Odom is the name I couldn't think of, but supposedly he owns both. :dunno: I was surprised how few planes were on the ramp yesterday, maybe everybody is coming down today for the 4th? Heck, I'm going home to work for a couple days.

Yeah! I think I'm going fishing when I come back on Tuesday evening and stay out until Wednesday afternoon! Our condo building is on the pass, so we have 100's of people trying to come down here to watch the fireworks, the association hired security this year!

Well, we have a condo here and we don't rent it, so I hate to leave it vacant! We are on Holiday Isle, so we avoid 90% of the traffic.:D
