Too Good to be True?

Will a Yankee hold 2 fat guys?
No.

And despite the owners' claims, it won't do 130 mph except in a dive or at full throttle at low altitude (burning more than 7 gph).

As you note, low time on the airframe is a concern, as that may (or may not) indicate neglect, but I'm also trying to figure out what "SMOH 494.0 ACCORDING TO ENGINE LOGS" means -- like there's no documentation on the overhaul? That's scary. When was it done, anyway? Also, "sold with a fresh annual" is totally bogus unless you know and trust the shop doing it, and having a pre-buy done by the seller's shop is usually an invitation to disaster.

Not saying this plane may not be a good buy, but there are questions, and to be honest, with a typical full fuel cabin load of 360-370 lb, a Yankee just ain't the plane for "2 fat guys." If you want a Grumman for "2 fat guys," you need a Traveler or Cheetah. Even the O-320 150-160 HP STC for the AA-1 series doesn't increase useful load -- the best any of them do is increase max gross by the difference in engine weight, which only keeps the heavier engine from eating into the previously existing useful load.
