Today's Google Doodle

You get a lot more than sounds.

Click on the elevator door, then the transporter console, etc etc etc.

Enjoy your trip to the planet's surface to kill something.

Spectacular!

And perfectly logical.

I love the Tribbles. And the fact that the red shirt got splooged. But he came back alive, so you know it's fake! LOL

Tribbles? Where were the tribbles? All I saw was Shatner's rug.

It was a five year mission. Are they still out there?

"To boldly go where no MAN has gone before!" :D

Something. That's Kirk building a rudimentary gunpowder canon to kill the Gorn from the episode Arena.

*sigh*

Why does this doodle depress me? Because I recognized the episode immediately.

*another sigh*

What's wrong with that?

I hang out at a NASA site. Do you have any idea how many NASA people are Trekkies? Not too many vulcan ears on a typical day, but the occasional red shirt does go by.

That and Monty Python.

I was working at JPL during the first years of DS9. One day my boss suggested I have lunch over by the baseball field....turns out DS9 was filming part of the pilot. 8700 employees at JPL and 8650 are Trekkies. And almost every one of them was lined up long the fence (outside of camera range) watching...

OK, so you do have some idea. :P

I work at Ames (and sometimes Dryden/DAOF). We see the Mythbusters filming from time to time, but no Star Trek. Though we did have Nichelle Nichols pay the DAOF a visit not long ago. She even signed our airplane! We have a spot on the rear of the aft upper deck bulkhead with celebrity autographs.

As you can imagine, the locals were quite fired up about that.

We're a quite bit smaller nowadays. Heck, the East Lot is only 1/2-2/3rds full nowadays. On top of that, the lot goes back to Pasadena in June. They don't want to renew the lease.
