Hi I am starting my PPL at ERAU and was wondering if anyone has any tips to help prepare for the checkride

Lessons from a CFI work well.

Snark aside, you are at an institution with a proven program and a long track record of success producing pilots. My best advice is trust the process and do your best at everything they ask of you.

I assume you’re going all the way, if you are at ER: ppl, comm, Inst., instructor, multi, atp. I’ve known some graduates. The program is quite standardized & regimented. You’ll get more info about the examiners they use.from the instructors & other students.

Generally, I’d say DPEs are not looking for perfection as much core competencies & the ability to recognize, diagnose, & correct your errors. But that is for us mere mortal pilots. ER DPEs may have less tolerance. I imagine they expect cookie cutter compliance & thinking in their candidates.

So, learn the material, study hard, & practice tests (written, oral, & practical). Good luck.

Two words…

GOUGE.

Who has heard tall tales about getting along without that, but wouldn’t know anything about it.

You are attending arguably the most expensive and premier flight school in the world and asking an online forum how to prepare for a practical test? I suggest you ask your academic staff.

My tip would be focus more on learning to be a good pilot than worrying about the checkride, especially when you haven't even started yet.
