Tied Down, engine on question

Not intending to taxi but for the sole purpose of just quickly checking the proper functioning of an instrument or some other component in the cockpit, would you recommend leaving the tie downs attached while the engine is running at no less than 1000 RPM?

Depends on what is behind you . If you are tied down in a typical row of planes where they are parked tail to tail, you don't want to pepper the plane or planes behind you. If there are planes behind you, untie and taxi somewhere else. If there are no planes behind you, and you don't intend to taxi anywhere, there is no harm in remaining tied down. And in some cases it may be safer to remain tied down.

Sounds like a good idea as long as the location is not a problem for picking up gravel or blasting something behind.
