Now THAT is different. Maybe all washing machines have snakes, and that's why they eat our socks?
A few nights ago, I was walking through a state park here with my girlfriend. As she pushed a branch out of the way, I thought I saw something in it (which then brushed up against her arm). "Hmm... that looks like a snake" I thought. When she let the branch go, sure enough, there was a snake sitting right there in the branch, looking at me like "Dude, WTF?! I was minding my own business."
We identified it as a harmless snake, although uncertain in type. It was probably about 18" long, but at most 2 feet. Apparently rattlers and copperheads are not uncommon around these parts, something that I was not aware of, but thankfully it was not one of those. I was more kind in pushing the branch out of the way and then leaving the snake where it was. We then continued on our walk.
