I'm looking for a good flight school and I noticed with the EAA Young Eagles, you get a discount (free ground school online) on Sporty's flight training. Is Sporty's any good?

Are you talking about their ground school software or the flight school at Sporty’s themselves?

If the Sporty's groundschool still mainly consists of videos with the droning monotone narrator I'm not a fan because it's hard to absorb info. But some people like it.

Yeah, I've heard the narrator is terrible.

I like your display name, btw

The sportys videos are proof of life after death.

I used Sportys to self-study for my instrument written. Worked well for me but I was pretty motivated and already came to the table with some instrument knowledge.

I wouldn't recommend any self-study for the private, however.

The EAA administers Ray Scholarships. These are basically 16-18 year olds enjoying zero to private pilot funding and the recipients use the Sporty’s video self study curriculum. They pass their written knowledge tests and the practical tests at the same rate as those using other products.

All the video courses are self study curriculum. You are going to have to study beyond just watching the videos. That is also true if you attended in person ground training.
