Years ago I set tie-down augers in my yard for visitors. The problem is that they keep getting buried and then we have to find them again. So I replaced the pieces of sewer pipe that I was using to protect them with sprinkler irrigation boxes. These have lids. A convenient additional feature is that the ropes now fit into the box.

The neighborhood flyin is tomorrow (Saturday 25th). Drop on in. My house is the sort of Frank Lloyd Wright looking thing about midfield with a 170, Commanche, and Navion parked in the grass.

Very nice. To bad I’m an introvert and don’t want visitors to stay more than a few hours.

Following on with the weekend's activity, our airport residents (and neighbors) had an after party and dance in my hangar.

BTW, Ron, that’s a really slick idea, but.....

Here in FL I’ve learned that those irrigation boxes are popular hangouts for snakes. I’ve found black widow spiders in them a few times, too. YMMV, of course. Be careful what you’re grabbing when you pull out a rope.

Just hope you dont open it one day to find a snake in there! I find those bastards in my pool skimmer quite often.
