We’re trying to fly outta town today, leaving around 4:00. This is Windy’s forecast at that time. The only weather forecasted is the yellow blob over my home airfield.

If you’re at Rome I’m seeing 20% chance of rain, 5k’ ceilings. SEND IT.

I wonder what the METAR abbreviation for "SMOTE" would be. I dunno the French equivalent :D

Sweet plane! How long did it take?

The trip back was a little harder. First, the FBO at Easterwood field charges >$7 for Avgas. So I bought just enough to get *somewhere else*, knowing we'd have headwinds on the way home and would need to stop anyway. So we stopped at 3R4 - Hart, Louisiana. Fuel was $4.15, as I recall. The headwinds did happen, so we spent a fair amount of time at 3500' fighting about 20 knots on the nose with turbulence thrown in for fun. So I got 5 more hours of Day, VFR time towards my PPSEL rating... ;-)

There used to be an acro contest in Rome every May. They moved it to La Grange last year. It's a really good contest, if you are interested in watching.

That's the one dedicated to Mark Fullerton. A great guy I used to fly with. Had a stroke before a business meeting. The attendees thought he was acting odd, but didn't divert him to get medical care. He ran off the road on the way to his next stop and ultimately died - I don't remember if it was from the stroke or the wreck. Anyway, great guy. Much loved at his home field of Calhoun, which is about 20 NM East of Rome, where that contest was founded.

Looks like a May event. Keep me posted...
