This is fascinating (music related)

It's interesting that say Nat King Cole didn't play on Rambling Rose. He was drummer , not really a pianist, so I guess they used a better studio musician.

And the Monkees weren't supposed to play on their records. Peter and Mike played - not Mickey. I think Peter was a studio musician in the first place.

BTW it shows that the scale was $65 in the 60s! That was probably a lot to them.

$65/hr then is about $444/hr today according to a cheezy internet inflation calculator. Not bad coinage. Of course they probably didn't have a steady 40 hour work week. I wonder what union studio musicians pull down today.

Glen Campbell played on a LOT of songs!

 Glen was the first artist I looked up in that list.

I dip my cup of of soup back from a gurgling, crackling cauldron in some train yard

My beard a roughened coal pile and a dirty hat pulled low across my face

Through cupped hands round a tin can I pretend to hold you to my breast and find

That you're wavin' from the backroads by the rivers of my mem'ry
Ever smiling, ever gentle on my mind

Holy smokes they don't write `em like that anymore.
