If I had a volcano to hide it in and fly out of I'd go for it. Everytime I find a cave that would work there is already a rogue helicopter parked in it... And that pilot likes to throw punches around.

I worked with a guy who was a door gunner on a Huey in Vietnam. When he found out I was in country the same time he was, he invited me to his apartment. There, in the dining room of this big old Victorian mansion he had an almost complete Huey, gun and all. He had shipped a crate a week back from Vietnam for nearly a year. About 2 months from rotation he got wounded on a mission and ended up a the hospital in Japan. That caused him to miss the last 8 shipments.
I thought it was a big deal when I managed to sneak an AK and a crossbow back.

Supply Sgt get all the cool stuff and they know how to work it. A guy I knew had shipped an entire Jeep stateside. Piece by piece. I lol'ed when they showed the same thing happening on the TV show M*A*S*H.

all the hiding places in Georgia are taken up by pot fields and meth labs.

Seriously, is that all new components to put together a complete
Huey? $325k right now Reserve not Met. I Wonder what the Reserve is? I Imagine if you assembled it you could get $2.2MM or so from a logging company for a 'new' one.

Apparently it was not an uncommon thing to do.

Yeah for that price you should be able to get the paperwork sorted out. I wonder if it is actually all complete, with engine?

I was thinking the same thing, or maybe get a few and go to work in South America....:wink2:

Heard GSA is getting ready to sell of over 1,000 humvees as well. Perfect Huey companion.

Nah, Huey is a Jeep companion, or a deuce and a half Kaiser. If you want the Humvee, you have to bid on the UH-60.;)

Yeah I guess Jeep would be more appropriate for the period. Currently reading Chickenhawk. Great Huey stories in it!

Depends on how you define "Jeep". Some of us think the line ends with the WWII Willys MB/Ford GPW and their immediate postwar civilian models.

The Vietnam era "jeep" was the M151, the Military Utility Tactical Truck (MUTT). Had a rollover problem was restricted to 35 MPH at one point. In the movie "The Green Berets" you can clearly see the warning stencil.

I think all the iterations prior to the HUMVEE would be considered Jeeps.
