Out doing the aerobic thing on my bicycle this AM, heard an interesting noise ahead.... a turf strip where I had NEVER seen another aircraft, had this doing a run up....followed by a very STOL TO.....returned for a low pass making smoke.

Too cool.

You just happened across the luckiest man in the world. Happens...

Some days the luck is with you.

Those things are the worst noise makers in the world.

It's the only radial/prop combination that I can't stand on a fly-by.

Would I fly one? Yes.

I flew both of privetts some. It's not really all that pleasant. I think the guys like him who learned to fly in the 1950's in the military, have a fondness in their heart for them because it was the first plane they had where they would go out by themselves and have fun. For those of us without those memories, we can see the side of it that's a pia.

How do you do aerobatics on a bicycle?

edit: NM, I can't read.

I owned, restored, flew and maintained a SNJ for 8 years. Would own another one if fuel was cheaper. Of course I'm the opposite of most guys on this forum. I find factory GA airplanes boring to fly. Give me an Antique, aerobatic, warbird or homebuilt any day. Don

There are 3 of them in Destin that do a show over the water on Thursday evenings, they are extremely loud! Fun to watch the first couple times, then they are just noisy. :D

Try waking up to a dozen or more of them starting up all at once next to your campsite at 06:00 sharp on Tuesday morning just to realize how badly you're hungover from Monday evening's keg party. Sets the mood perfectly for the yodeller who's about to blare across the PA system at 07:00. :frown2:
