I was challenged in another thread to design an experiment proving my view of the universe. An interesting challenge, so I thought, "What would I first want to know? What is the overall greatest piece of information to find?"

Well, I settled on the postulate that Dark Energy is the energy of 'life'. It permeates the entire universe, and where ever conditions exist that support use, it settles in, most likely to 'breed a feed stock', living organisms that can take matter and turn them into this 'life/Dark Energy'.

So, the question becomes, how to design an experiment that can link Dark Energy to life. What kind of signature can we find to Dark Energy? What kind of signature can we find to Life?:dunno:

Dark energy is nothing more than the Theoretical Physicists saying they don't know what's going on. It isn't the Force.

By your own admission you don't know what it is, which means you also cannot say what it's not.

While I buy Steingar's definition for what it is, this is sounding a bit like a new religion. Defining the great unknown. When life is created from dark energy, is this exclusively carbon based life or is it inclusive of silicon based life forms. If the former is true, I think this should be named for me, since I first mentioned it here.

Dark energy / dark matter is the ether of modern science. In a few decades dark matter will sound as preposterous as nineteenth century ideas about ether "filling the vacuum" do to us.

Figuring dark matter is easy peasy compared to ascertaining where Henning is coming from. With all his talk of Christianity, possible commercially available fuel sources, Sharia, et al, he is either on the cusp of converting or about to announce a new religion. I choose E: WTH.

Common core says 7....

4 + 2 = 5 + 2 = 7

(four plus two minus half of the 2nd number because it is in 2nd place, plus two to make it feel better about itself. no number should feel bad about it self. I'mma gonna' cry for number 2.)

In the case of dark matter, there is actually a fairly well-developed proposal along those lines, championed by an Israeli physicist whose name escapes me at the moment. The theory is called MOND, for Modified Newtonian Dynamics. The idea is basically that there isn't any such thing as DM, it's just that gravity doesn't fall off with distance the way Newton (and Einstein) predict. Unfortunately, it is mostly ruled out by a number of observations, in particular the way the inferred invisible mass is distributed in a pair of colliding galaxies called the Bullet Cluster, which is what you would expect if it really were matter that only interacts gravitationally.

Okay, I had to go look... his name is Mordehai Milgrom. There's a Wikipedia page on the theory here.
