The Need For An English Lesson Is Apparent

"I know my homonyms" said the keynote speaker at the San Francisco Rotary convention, in reference to his circle of friends.

Looks to me like your suggestion just went over everybody's head. As and engineer, I can't spell, and don't know much about sentence construction.

Just curious: what words or terms were intended to be connected by your use of "and" at the beginning of your 2nd sentence?

:o)

I disagree.
I "know my homonyms," but sometimes mistype them - perhaps because I tend to "hear" the words in my head as I'm typing them.

Then that would come under the heading of typo or "Senior Moment":mad2:

What other voices do you hear in your head? Should I worry? :D

That is exactly the reason I don't, normally, preach, chastise, or rant. No one is perfect, especially me. Usually, as soon as you point out someone's fault(s), yours come glaringly clear soon after. That said, a mis-spelling here or there is a matter of single events that may or may not occur because the author doesn't know the correct spelling. Could be a typo; Could be a "Senior Moment." (Besides, I think they used to spell it with an "n" when I was in third grade :D) Mis-use of homonyms, on the other hand, in my opinion, occurs because the author truly never learned/retained the correct meaning of each homonym. And that, unfortunately, works to harm the credibility of the author IMHO.

This site helps me a lot when I can't remember how to spell a word:
