Got to fly the most highly modified Cessna, Experimental 170B, amazing performance, STOL and probably its one of the safest airplanes in the world.

In a similar style, I have a good friend also with a "slightly modified yet still certified" C172... started life as an early 60s C172, converted to a taildragger, wings swapped for C182 wings, and a Franklin 225hp engine. Climbs like crazy!

Those are a lot of modifications, I thought the wings of the 172 and 182 were the same.

I know he has oversized wings; perhaps from a 206 or strutted 210?

172 and 182 wings have the same planform and dimensions, but are different structurally, 182 uses thicker skins, etc. C-206 and '64-'66 C-210 wings are the same in wingspan and overall dimensions as the 172 and 182 (excluding the larger drooped wingtips), but have wider-span flaps and shorter but deeper-chord ailerons.

From the outside it doesn’t look as highly modified as the 170 my buddy used to have…among other things, it had the tail from a 175, in addition to engine, wing, and brake mods. It was also the first airplane to fly a CAT II ILS into one of the airports in the L.A. basin.

I saw this one at OSH. CC always had a crowd around him! He's a very interesting guy and has a unique show for sure. Milne "CC" Pocock

I also saw this one on the way to OSH a couple of years ago. Incredibly nice Cessna 170B, fully rebuilt to essentially be a brand new plane. It was beautiful, but he was thinking he was going to sell them for somewhere around $300K with a fuel injected 180hp engine. Most of his target audience told him they'd rather have a nice 180 or 185 for that price.
