I copied this from another web page I frequent.

Quote: I was up at Concrete yesterday, & talked to one of the guys up there who in the past has been involved in organizing the fly-in. Thanks to the flap that was stirred up last year, apparently the city of Concrete is now very concerned about liability issues and will be requiring a special insurance policy for the event. These event policies aren't cheap, so it's kind of up in the air who if anyone will be ponying up the dough for one. It's sounding like this whole liability issue just might put the kibosh on this event, both this year & in the future, kind of like it did for the Jefferson fly-in (which will not be held anymore).
End Quote

Why not just have a group of pilots show up and BBQ or something without calling it a fly-in?

"Hey everyone, show up at Concrete on this day. There might be other people around. Maybe you guys will find food."

The biggest portion of the fly in is the Museum, and getting it opened, plus the car and bike show. and all the toy boxes that the folks that live there have open.

Your Idea was how it all started. many moons ago.

The only liability with a fly-in are all the RV pilots doing overhead breaks :D .

Actually I was there all weekend, and don't know what the so called "Flap" was about.

If you are the FAA acting in your capacity of work, you are NOT welcome at this one.

Just stay out of the way. Everyone knows we own the pattern.... :D

Check the terrain around concrete, see if the overhead break is a good thing to do.

the normal pattern is to fly the south side of the canyon, to the east, and do a nice "U" turn to final headed west.

Easy there, big guy. It was a joke - most people probably recognized it as it flew right over you...

It seems after a few e-mails the "FLAP" was all about aircraft parking on the south side of the runway, and the pilots walking across the runway, and some one bitched to the city about it.

OMG Panic.... we gotta stop this **** right now attitude by the city run by loggers, and seattle city light workers.
