The Good Stuff

Let's see,

Got dumped.
Lost part of my thumb and index finger.
Quarantined.
Saw business go to **** because of a clueless idiot with a pen.
Two trip cancelations due to airplane issues.
Flying companion of 13 years died.
Root canal - worst pain of my life.
Quaratined again due to non-covid contagious disease.

Yeah 2020 was outstanding.

But since we are listing the good things that happened in 2020, here's my list:

Yep, that covers it.

Not a bad year for me.

Covid combined with oil & gas market tumbling ended with nine getting furloughed then offered a handsome severance package. I had already been interviewing to leave my job so it was like getting paid a bonus to do what I was going to do anyway, lol. Took a new job with a slight promotion/pay raise and much-reduced travel schedule. Very happy with that switch.

Wife finally took the steps to get into an accelerated nursing school program (she's been talking about doing it for a decade). Very proud of her for that, and she got a 4.0 GPA on the 4 courses she had to complete (in addition to her Bachelor's) to meet the entrance requirements for nursing school.

Refinanced the house for a much lower rate and shorter term, as well as switched our home/auto policies to save over $4K/year versus our previous insurer.

Only downside has been dealing with preschool schedules constantly in flux which has been rough on our 4yr old daughter.
