Everything Offends Me
I was watching CNN before the games today and saw that they are rioting again, this time over a labor bill.

Their police force was just standing there taking rocks to the face and head. I have lost even more respect for the French now.

Pourquoi est-ce que le gouvernement français sont pathétiques? Amérique ne tolère pas le terrorisme domestique.

Forgive any French grammatical errors there. I'm still learning the language to my fullest.

Uhm...why? You'd be better off learning Chinese or Spanish for international work. Maybe German in Europe (although they taught English in school when I was there in 85).

Its actually a dorky hobby of mine - I learn languages for fun, believe it or not.

Socialism is in its death throws in France. At least I hope so.

Not hardly... My folks left France in the early 1600's for Quebec. Unfortunately, Quebec now is as bad as the France my people escaped.

Europeans think they're cooler than sliced bread. They're wrong. Sliced bread is a whole lot cooler than anything in Europe...

Arrogant asses, they deserve what they're getting...

America rules! God bless America!

I think it's in conflict more than a "death". At a very basic level, some parts of the government are starting to realize you can't have both worlds: socialism with a stagnant economy. It just doesn't work.

The days of short work weeks, extended "holidays" (vacations), lifetime pensions, free healthcare, etc., are driving countries into bankruptcy. The ones that ARE making it work to some extent have to tax their citizens over 50% of their income to make it work...and sometimes that's not enough.

The conflict between the people who enjoy socialism's benefits and the government who realizes what its long term effects really are will be interesting. The French tolerate the riots because, as history has shown for them, that's the traditional way of changing governments. :D

Well I was trying to be a little more diplomatic Bob, but in general I have agree. I've spent a lot of time in Europe for business over the years. I've had overall positive experiences, but on the continent there is an underlying jealousy of Americans. We're different, that's why we all came here. England's a whole nother story. They seem to understand us more. Nice people.
