The dude who escaped the Iron Curtain in his own homebuilt airplane

That dude is bad ass! Thanks for posting the video

Can you get a virus by clicking a (non-exe) link? I click all sorts of websites and never noticed anything.

Now that's an awesome story.

The way you get a virus from a web site is usually because the virus is injected by java script and/or Flash running in an ad window. Any site that runs a lot of ads, which all the major media sites, can and has inadvertently transmitted malware.

What these big media companies ought to do is originated all their advertising from their own servers. This would defeat ad blockers, and allow them to scrub any ads that appear on their sites.

As far as Ivo goes, he's the kind of immigrant we really need! I just wish all these kids wishing for socialism and wearing Che T-shirts would really learn about how evil the Communist system is by talking to some of the escapees like Ivo, the people who tunneled out, and maybe the family that escaped in a hot air balloon made of raincoats.

He is not the only person to escape from the Soviet Block. There have been many. Very many. So many that if they made a short movie about every one of them, you wouldn't finish watching them all before you died (no matter how young you are now).
Ivo was just discovered by someone who thought that he was worth publicity, that's all.
Next week, it might be you or your brother, who knows.

Maybe not, but he's the only own to escape in a self-designed homebuilt airplane. The dude is bad ass!
Then you might like the guy who scuba-dived in a creek under a fence or the gentleman who actually built a miniature submarine to escape through a river. :)
Many escaped via air before, it borderlines on boring nowadays, especially to us, pilots. :D

I haven't heard of too many people risking their lives to escape the socialist countries in western Europe.

Cool story. My 7th grade history teacher was smuggled out of Poland in a duffel bag at the age of 9. Legend has it that an American G.I. in West Germany hid him on a military plane to get him over here. Never new anyone more proud to be an American than that guy.

True, true.
I love it how one of the biggest socialist countries openly bashes socialism, showing how smart the voters truly are. :)
Wait, that is true for multiple countries. Well, we'll see who chooses to take offense this time. :D

Maybe they move to Denmark:

I know that some people in the US associate the Nordic model with some sort of socialism. Therefore I would like to make one thing clear. Denmark is far from a socialist planned economy. Denmark is a market economy,” Rasmussen said.

You mentioned "kids wishing for socialism." I think that whatever level of socialism is practiced in western Europe is what most of them have in mind. I doubt that you'd find many who are pining for Soviet-style communism.

Socialism is not synonymous with a planned economy, nor is it distinct from market economies.

It merely refers to group ownership (not necessarily government), and every government has some socialist policies. Like public roads, without which a market economy is impossible.
