In the spirit of #EAAtogether and Spirit of Aviation Week, @dembro just released this Piper Cub documentary from back in 2012 celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Piper Cub.
Hah! You beat me to it! The film was made 8 years ago SOOOO I'm of course self conscious BUT that Thumbnail image is easily probably one of the best airplane photos I've ever taken.
I was there. It was the trip of a lifetime for me! Great video. I saw our Cub in the video -- it was the yellow one!
It began life to end up as such but we went off the reservation and installed a Corvair conversion engine on the nose which is absolutely verboten as far as the kit manufacturer is concerned. The man that designed this particular FWF package (including the handsome cowl) was scratch building his plane and those that looked at his noticed it was as good or better built than a kit version and spoke of how clean his build was. Soon they began calling it a "Cleanex"and later it became known as "The Wicked Cleanex" because of the aerobatics he flew in it with the 120 HP Corvair conversion on the nose. Google Corvair Cleanex for more info.
