I didn't see this already posted with the search terms I used.

British Airways 747 wing hits a building at JNB. Looks like they missed the left turn to Rwy 03L.

In the "that'll buff right out" category... :D

I was reminded of the airport ID rant as I looked up JNB.

But it makes sense. Johannesburg, South Africa.

I wonder if some duct tape and bonds will fix it right up?

WOW...

Woulda loved to see the heart monitor recording when the flight crew heard/felt that....

Damn, I can see how that could have happened. Really sucks for the pilots.

Damn, I can see how that could have happened.

Me, too.

One time I was taxiing at a S FL airport - I forget which one.

I was trying to find a maintenance shop of some sort. Kinda lost.

Then I came to a STOP sign - you know, a regular traffic STOP sign.

Thought it was odd, then...

D'oh!

Without noticing, the line I was following had turned at some point from yellow to white, and I was on a vehicular traffic path.

Got turned around somehow and backtracked and was none the worse for wear.

I find ground operations, especially at night, FAR more difficult than most air navigation.

But That's Just Me!™

Can't really tell, but that looks like Brick

"Well, looks like we're going to have to change the arriving gate information! Everybody hang tight while we get the mobile stairs and some busses."

Or would this incident be cause to use those nice rubber slides?

This is one of the highest time -400's in the BA fleet with close to 120.000hrs on it, so chances are it will get trucked out in pieces rather than repaired.

Should have been watching the shadows. . . .

I am always impressed when one of you smart guys makes a catch like that.
Thanks.

Braking action reported good by a 747. Well, as long as you hit the building there on the way by. ;)
