Those of us in and out of LGA see this kind of thing all the time. How many times have we heard while holding short of 22: "Spool 'em up xxx, you're crossing next." Most of the time it works, but sometimes the guy landing gets waved off at the last minute.

Then you operate somewhere like CLT and get sent around at 500' because the guy in front didn't clear in time and you think, "WTF? There was *plenty* of room!" :p
 
LHR/LGW won't give you landing clearance until about 300' from landing; it's quite unnerving the first few times it happens. Would love to see a picture of it.
