Greetings to the BEST PILOTS AROUND!!!!

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all of you who came to support the re-opening of Prickett Grooms Airfield. Without PLANES AND PILOTS a Fly In just isn't a Fly In!!!!

We truly appreciate the effort that you all made to make Saturday such a great success. To have the turn out that we had, with both planes and people, exceeded all that we expected-- and that is a wonderful thing!
We also know that some of you went that "extra mile" to get there -- and get HOME! Whether it was just to pop in for a quick lunch, or whether you stayed and camped, you all contributed to the event in ways that you may never imagine. What you all did by coming, giving rides, mixing and mingling brought excitement and life back into a tiny little town and this will be talked about- I would guess- for quite some time.

As you know, we were also flying by the seat of our pants (geez I'm full of puns today aren't I?) Since Brad and I have not yet attended a Fly In and this is all quite new to us, we would appreciate any feedback that you would care to give. Some of us got a chance to brainstorm just a little on what we could do to make it better. That being said, if this is to be an annual event, we could use advice on just about everything.

To those who left behind "supplies" at the bunkhouse, I guess that means you have to come back to either get your stuff or at least use again what you left behind! It will be waiting for you should you choose to return, which we certainly extend that welcome to you. And it need not be limited to just another Fly In. If schedules permitted, and we are at camp, we certainly would love to have you drop in-- well not literally.

Also we would like to have all of your mailing addresses as we have a little token of our appreciation that we would like to send to you. Words just cannot express how we feel-- how wonderful you all were, how much we enjoyed getting to meet all of you. We would have planned things a little better had we had a little extra time.

The plaque is hanging proudly in the Pilot's Lounge. As soon as time allows, we will be finishing up the interior. That gesture was above and beyond and we are humbled by your gift and presentation.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

YOU ALL ROCK!!!!!

Brad and Diz

It was my pleasure to be there. I enjoyed the people from the town I met and spoke with, the other PoAers I got meet and the flight there and back. "I will return" is the motto I have decided to adopt for 6Y9. Depending on plans that may already be in place for Labor day I might be able to make another trip this year to the wilds of the UP, ya hey!

Please pass on to your mom and dad my apreciation for what they were able to put together!

Leslie and I really enjoyed our time there, even though she was under the weather from a cold. I wound up putting 8 hours in my log book that day! Liz, Candy and Lonnie seemed to really enjoy their experiences, and I know I loved giving them rides. It was fun meeting all the locals, some of whom have lived there all their lives! It's a great group of people, and I felt honored to be part of the start of a great tradition!

As for my address, I'm in the book, so I may as well post it here:
1823 Lake Shore Dr.
Romeoville, IL 60446

I had a great time and really appreciate the efforts put forth by your family. I didn't expect that many people to be there. Seemed like everyone in town plus more.

My address is:

I must have missed this and I am not that far of a flight from there! I'll have to fly up there sometime!

Mark down and plan on Labor day weekend (every year till eternity according to Ed:yes: )

Ed, Your folks are great hosts, and I'm sure I'll be back.
Tell your mom I changed my mind, I think Labor Day weekend is a good time. Newberry is having a flyin the last week in August and Northport and Torchport are on these next two weekends(recurring yearly).

Wow... Well, I can't think of anything right off the top of my head. I had a great time. Lots of people, good food... It was very well done. You could have fooled me!

As for the field itself, I know there's plenty in store already. A semi-permanent porta potty would be a handy addition. A listing on AirNav would be great, so we could let everyone know what facilities are there, what's around (restaurants, rental cabins, etc) and hopefully bring some more folks in.

I did leave behind one lens from my sunglasses somewhere. :( Didn't notice until I was in the air. I changed from "Pilot Kent" to "Pirate Kent" the rest of the day. Arrr!

I really don't think you should be thanking us, because I can assure you that we had the most fun of anyone. We got to fly and we got to watch planes. What could be better?

My address is changing, so I'll give you my parent's address:

I'll say right off the top that Brad and Diz were gracious hosts. And their labor of love is much appreciated by aviators everywhere, I cannot overstate how joyful it is to hear about an airport reopening. And to be recognized in the region via the immense local support and the TV news must be gratifying for all their work.

The only thing I can think of to make it better is for something we can go home with. A T-shirt, cap, or even a bumper sticker would be great. Of course, those items would be for sale. Perhaps also you can work on the local business to get them onboard to provide pilot access to 4 wheelers or such.

I sure wanted to meet that ultralight pilot who gave so many rides. He barely touched down before he was back in the air. And thanks to Ed, Grant, and Kent for also giving rides.

BTW: I left camp gear behind on purpose. It's barely used and let the next guy use it.

You guys did pretty good for playing it by ear. Can you say, "tailgate party" with airplanes?

Seriously, I was not aware of how BIG a deal that is for Sidnaw. Nice job. We'll be back- but VERY, very Light.
