TFR.....Terrified Flying Representave..? Well it sounds like thats what it stands for.

Can someone tell me which WANKER is flying into SWF this week, therefore grounding me for a day....Azzwipes......

Most likely going to West Point. If they weren't such idiots they wouldn't have to worry about the areas they fly into. So close 4 airports....Azzwipes.....

They close us down every time there is a home football game at the university. We're within the three mile zone. Not all day though, just during the game.

Anyone have an idea what's meant by the highlighted exception? It certainly seems as if being on an IFR flight plan and getting clearance from ATC would get you through a sports TFR without difficulty. How about if you're VFR?

VP Cheney is flying into SWF & POU, thence to a "friend's" home for some hunting.

Just stay home.

grant - you can go in and out VFR quite easily with clearance from the controlling agency. on game days in ames we call des moines clearance on the RCO, get a squawk and get out. they dont really let us do touch and goes or anything but we can get out and get back in. sadly our towplane does not have a transponders, plus glider ops are specifically prohibited, but there could be a chance we could get a tow out of the TFR as long as we didnt go back in, if the towplane had a transponder.

That RCO makes it easier! If I had to deal with that at Clow, I'd have to call Chicago Approach on the land-line. You can imagine how attractive that option would be! Luckily, I don't have to deal with that on a regular basis, though it would always be a possibility visiting elsewhere!

It's not even govt business......
hummmmm
