In a renewed interest to eat for a better blood sugar reading (I'm DM Type II), I've been researching better snacks to have at my desk for all day grazing.

Figured out a good one.

30g low salt pepitas (pumpkin seeds), 30g unsalted sunflower seeds, 15g unsalted almonds. Makes a bout 1/3 of a sandwich baggie, and is a low net carb, medium protien snack. The thumbnail has the specific nutritional info.

That's fat on fat on fat. Anything that comes in bottled oil form is by nature loaded with fat. My graze is baby carrots and grapes and some walnuts here and there.

Plus unless you have a medical necessity to eat constantly, snacking/grazing is a horrid way to control calories.

Depends on what you snack on. Lots of little meals are way better than one or two big ones. If you want to snack and not gain weight, snack on real food. I ferment veggies for snacks, they're good and low cal, though high in sodium. Then again, I have kidneys. Just his morning I had a pickled hard boiled egg for a snack. Real food.

If you snack on snack food, you've already lost.

It helped me lose 50lbs, it depends on what you graze on. If you never get hungry the body sees no reason to store fat for reserves.

Works totally opposite for me. If I snack all day, I never do get full and my body still craves its two meals a day. I've tried it and piled on weight. If I just eat two, low carb meals a day I'm good to go.

You're weird, but we knew that already.

Well, you figure a tiger pounces on a gazelle, eats 50 pounds of meat, and is good for the next three days. Seems to work for them.

It's because it stores fat to burn through the lean cycle. This also cuts 25-50% from a tigers life span. Besides which, tigers don't pounce on gazelles as the don't inhabit the same continent. Cheetahs are primarily gazelle hunters while lions typically go for larger prey as they are pack hunters.

You are saying there are no gazelles in Asia? And are you promoting a vegetarian lifestyle to maximize your tiger's lifespan?

Do you have bowstaff skills?

I do, by the way. Mad skillz. I happen to posess a couple tapered staffs and one straight one. I train with the straight one. I impress people with the tapered ones.

Remember that this isn't consumed in 5 minutes. This is to "stoke the fires" over the entire day. Helps to prevent desire to eat the donuts or pizza someone brought.

As far as fats go, we need certain amount of good fats, and these have many of them. Rest of day is pretty low fat with fruit, veg, and proteins.

Yeah yeah yeah... I could write a book on nutrition. Nobody would ever read it so I never bothered to carry it through. Carbs bad, but ok in small quantities. Protein good. Leafy green vegetables the best.

:yeahthat:

What he said. Snacking on high fat foods to prevent one from eating high fat foods is folly. There are good and bad fats, and a balanced diet will give you more than enough of both without seeking them out.

Yes, those aren't particularly good fats. For lunch have 6 pieces of tuna sashimi, that'll give you all the good fat you need. Ensure is a very good between meal meal. I eat 3 normal meals, portion controlled and have Ensure between, does me my chocolate fix as well. Dark chocolate is good on diabetes as well recent reports have come in.

I just eat whatever I want, and stay fat :dunno:

It's a lot easier.

Until you get old, your joints start degenerating under the load. Your BP goes up and your heart strains to pump blood through all that adipose tissue. And you start loosing change, bits of food and the odd household pet in the rolls of fat.

lol, well the upside is I don't really like sweets, and I don't snack.

So while I am over weight, I am as fat as I will ever be, and I am not THAT fat.

:)

I hear ya Mafoo. the only reason I want to drop a few pounds is so I can get into the R22. Darn weight restrictions on the seat. If all else fails I guess I can splurge on the R44 or stick with the olde fixed wing.
