At Wiscasset, ME KIWI, the Airport Open House weekend of August 11-12 was not blessed with good weather. Sunday was worse, with fog and on/off rain in varying degrees. The public, however, did show good attendance to view the spectacular war-birds of Texas Flying Legends Museum. TFL only flew briefly on Saturday. There will be another show in early October, before the TFL complete their 3-month residency at KIWI.

The volunteers were treated to a great lobster bake Sunday evening. As it became darker I captured a couple war-birds in nightly rest period. Also, at a hand-held 1/4 second exposure I caught the sweep of the beacon which is just behind the two hangars.

Those guys are awesome!

Mr. Pietsch (spelling?) Has an endorsement in his logbook that says something to the effect of "authorized to fly all piston singles and twins". He is a true bad-arse.

- - - Warren Pietsch(and the other TFL guys) will always take time to talk to a member of the public. I said to Warren, "How's Kent doing?" Kent Pietsch, also an airshow pilot, survived a crash of his show plane last week, in Canada. "He's OK; they have his lip zipped. Maybe that'll keep him quiet for a bit," Warren smiled.

[Added] During the Lobster Bake, Nick's band was in practice. TFL's Doug Rozendaal is the flat-top guitarist shown in these pictures.

Hey, I Think I saw all you folks at IWI Saturday evening as i was wandering around looking for someone to lend me the keys to the courtesy car! My wife and i were on our way back from Halifax NS. Yeah, talk about weather bad luck.

Well, dayamm! Sorry we missed you; and you could have easily slipped into the lobster bake gathering. I had left my volunteer's post at about 3:15 to meet a lady friend at Davis Island Grille at the end of the bridge you saw before your approach. While we were sitting, overlooking the Sheepscot River, the sun came blazing through at about 4:30. Of all the luck, 30 minutes after the open house was over(for the general public), the war-birds not having flown because of the weather.
