Hi all

This is a sad thread, last night the terrorist movement that runs in the south of Chile attacked a small flight club burning three airplanes. The only training airplane of the club, plus two private ones.

Our country is struggling with “ethnic” terrorism for the last 20 years, however for the last 8 years the attacks on farms are daily, burning people alive and killing those who don't comply. This sort of started as a ethnic problem, today is mutating to a FARC style terrorism.

I am saddened by your loss. I must admit that I don’t understand what the purpose of it is. I have been wanting to do a motorcycle trip in Chile.

I'll plead ignorance about the Chile situation in general - who is the source group and who are they attacking?

Sounds like an Israel/Palestine type of turf war. Not enough information to see which side is doing the damage.

I took the opportunity to research the issue. As far as I understand it the ethnic trouble has to do with the indigenous people wanting their land back or some such stuff. In addition in 2021 there were riots in the major cities resulting in a leftest government obtaining power. Personal safety and security has become an issue in the last several years.

I can't tell if we are still talking about Chile.

Regardless, my condolences to Patrojv, the aircraft owners, and other victims of the terrorism.

He said "... today is mutating to a FARC style terrorism..." It's about the poor vs the rich. Looks like maybe some poor folk ain't to happy with rich folk who can afford airplanes.

Yes. Still Chile. I spent my lunch reading up.

Poor vs Rich was like all fail socialist experiment started, now is a FARC style, as it is motivated by drug smuggling. The area has become a drug corridor between Atlantic and Pacific Ocean.
