Finally got to land this airport. Ski Telluride every year for the past 25 years and seen that runway all day each trip just beckoning .... some day was this past weekend. Winds were stiff at ridge level (35G45) out of the NE and reversed out of the west entering the gorge area from the Cones VOR (ETL) on in to Telluride airport (220 14G19). Hangar was $57 plus a $3 landing fee ... fuel price reasonable. Return trip had a great tailwind with ground speed averaging 182 knots, so detoured a little over to Shiprock. El Paso to Telluride is about 2.5 hours in my plane, but would've been 2.1 direct without diversions.

How was the landing and takeoff at over 9000' MSL?
What kind of plane?

No problems, DA not an issue as it was 44 degrees. The RV7A didn’t have any issues. Would be wary in warm weather if flying an anemic climb aircraft

I have gone to Telluride several times from my home base of Angel Fire, NM (KAXX). Love that runway with the little "dip" in the middle. The crew at the FBO is always super friendly. At least the typical winds there are down-the-runway versus the crosswinds we have in Angel Fire. If you haven't seen it, there is a Grand Tour episode on Amazon (season 2, episode 6) where they race Jaguars down the runway at Telluride. Pretty entertaining.
