Okay for those people that may have wandered through and stopped at my home airport (KTDZ - Toledo Executive/Metcalf) I'd like to say "Come back and see what they've done with the place"

Earlier this week it looked like a total dump inside with ratty furniture and just ugly. Today, new furniture and it actually looks nice!

So if it's not to far and you're curious stop on out and let me know what you think of the place! :)

Okay...the line guy on Thurs/Frid/Sat/Sunday is pretty useless but that won't change unless people (other then our flying club) complain about how they would've bought fuel but couldn't find the *goober* to fill it up.
 
well... I might could stop by and say "hi" but, seeing as how you have a goober not-serving fuel... ;-)
srsly - I'm not far and could conceivably come through. plane needs exercise this weekend.
 
It's an awesome set of runways with ILS or something on them. The FBO is getting alot nicer. Definetly come during the week and the line guy will be right on top of it for you!
 
But no car and no way to get one. That will make it tough for someone who wants to fly and and go to Tony Pacos or something.

You'll see my ugly mug out there by and by.
 
You can call any local rental car company and they'll bring it out to TDZ...I think Enterprise does it for sure "They'll pick you up"

Of course, you know Tony Packos got bought by the guy who owns the local Burger Kings and Tony Packos' will be national "soon"

You're kidding, I hope! I only know Tony Packos' from Jamie Farr talking about it as Klinger, but it's an institution!
 
I've been to the original a couple of times, but it's been years. Heard there was some family strife a couple of years ago...hadn't heard more. Hmm... guess I now know how THAT turned out! :(

The one time I landed there was on the way to Oshkosh. As I recall, seven planeloads of us landed unannounced. The FBO us a hotel nearby and a van service (may have been a taxi - but it was a 15 passenger van).
 
There is a Holiday Inn nearby, and I have no doubt the hotel will send a van to get you. I've probably seen the one that did. Doesn't help if you fly in an just want to go out for lunch.
 
Been a long time since I stopped at TDZ - back when I lived in Ohio. It was showing it's age then. Glad to hear of any airport improvements....

No ILS, RNAV though. I flew there on my Night XC as a student a few years back. I always liked going to Toledo. Nice views of the water on the way home...
 
There is at least an ILS or and RNAV (I'm not instrument rated) but I know one of those is there. On at least one of the runways.....I know the manager he just put $20Million into the airport.

C'mon out and check it out!

Yup, there are two RNAV (GPS) approaches and a VOR. These all non-precision approaches, which typically have higher minimums than ILSes, which are precision approaches.

RNAV (GPS) RWY 32 **CHANGED** download [SIZE=-1](239K[/SIZE]B)

There is a nice Art Museum and zoo in town as well. The "Lights before Christmas" is also spectacular! :)

When? I was just there a month ago, the place was a dump. No offense, but if the guy dumped in that kind of money, it certainly didn't show.

Last time I was there was December 1991 when I was a student pilot. Made my second solo X-Ctry trip from LPR (22G back then) to Metcalf in a Piper Tomahawk. Might have to stop back there one of these days and see what's new.

Eric might be prone to a little exaggeration some times.
The government has spent some money there in
the last few years, I hope it wasn't 20 million.

I have no idea how much he spent to get the new ILS and approaches in there. He interrupted my debriefing to brag about it.

Still looks really nice a week later too! :)
