Our new Saratoga came with Tanis heaters (as do all our other aircraft) but this one has a plug that doesn't look the same. Does anyone recognize this? Innerwebz sleuthing comes up blank and a phone call with a Tanis technician says Tanis never made a 4 pin plug.

I'm thinking the/a previous owner installed a homemade 4 pin canon plug?

It's a CPC connector. The mating end is fairly common, although I'd probably just suggest replacing it with a normal plug so a standard extension cord works.

Maybe a hack to work with some plug system they were using for another purpose maybe?
