Yesterday was "Take your child to work day".... I was at the company offices near LA.

The 6 Sigma group had a large booth set up (guess you can't be too early at indoctrinating the kids...).

But the star of the show was a couple of homemade hoverboards that some of the engineers made - they were giving rides to kids. Very, very cool. Take one leaf-blower, remove nozzle and attach pipe to create lift under the board made out of 3/4 inch plywood.

If *I* were still a kid, I'd definitely want one!

Hell. Now I want one... How many lbs could it lift? I think Home Depot is open for another hour....A run there...a six pack of beer..I could be flying by midnight.

You need 2 leaf blowers...one for lift, the other to push you around!

I guess the lift is related to the size of the blower.

It looked like they had built some kind of "cuff" (duct tape and foam rubber) around the outer edge of the board so the air pressure stayed under the board as lift was generated.

Jesse: google "leaf blower hovercraft".... there are youtubes of similar devices.

You know, I didn't even hear about it this year, but I'm not surprised.

I'd bet we don't allow children in the workplace since its smoker friendly.
