A T6 that was participating in the formation flying clinic at X60 went down 4/13/26. Two were killed. I met the owner on Friday and had a great talk with him. Out of respect for his family, I will not name him until the media release.

No cause at this time.

Heard the news last night from a friend who was there, but no details on what happened. I was supposed to be at that clinic but had an issue with the plane and couldn't go.

We had one go down in SUA long ago.
Local Surgeon and Grumman test pilot.
RIP

He was my good friend. This hits close to home. DS was a stellar pilot! I am so sad.

That is an unfortunate part of the aviation experience. Stick around and you will eventually have a handful of friends on the list. The ones with young families are the toughest.

Read a witness statement from a local saying 3 birds were in formation, one of them started sputtering and went down.

Witness statements are notoriously unreliable. Planes always crash nose down, engine was always sputtering, etc...

I've read an NTSB report where one witness swore up and down that the engine was sputtering before the accident - It was a glider.
