The swift in my avatar pic was recently replaced. It was a great plane but unfortunately totaled in a ground handling mishap by a mechanic. No injuries, insurance settled quickly and the owner bought an even nicer one to replace it.

Here's a little video of the new plane from yesterday.

Appears to be working now.

Enjoy the view of the back of my head. I got a haircut recently so it's looking pretty good back there.

How did it get totalled on the ground? Sounds crazy...

It all happened very quickly. It had an issue with the mixture adjustment and the on-field shop was taking a look at it. They towed it around to their building. Mechanic cranks it up to check out the problem. Starts with a ton of throttle. The plane went a few feet, wing clipped a tug, then he grabbed the brakes and it nosed over hard, digging the prop into asphalt at a high power setting. Wing was damaged beyond repair and the wing attachment on the fuselage was also damaged. The engine/prop were toast. Insurance decided to total the plane vs. repair.

.01 hours had elapsed on the engine hour meter since my last flight.

Da-yum! That would wake you up Fo sho, AP was prolly like well, guess I better start browsing the want ads again.

That was my first thought. Then I wondered what I would do if one of my mechanics did something like that.

I would probably would not fire him because he will never do anything like that again.

yabut the mechanic would prolly not get a raise for a very long time...

I had a guy break a $40K pump...I didn't fire him...but it was a near thing.
