I’m considering installing a SureFly SIM on a certified aircraft that currently has a Horizon P-1000 tachometer. I know SureFly offers the TACH2 interface for the P-1000, but I’ve read a few reports of compatibility problems.

Has anyone here installed a SureFly with a Horizon P-1000? If so, did the TACH2 work properly, or did you run into tach signal/readout issues?
Thanks.

Have you asked Surefly? Their support is some of the best I've ever encountered within aviation.

Yes. I'm in communication with them. They were very interested in this question also.

Getting a hall effect sensor put in off the tach drive. Can also take it off the magneto.... But I've got a dynon.

There was a thread over at mooneyspace and the solution was to replace the tach.

Yes, I've reviewed the Mooney thread. I'm trying not to replace my perfectly working 3 1/8 digital tachometer with a smaller 2 inch unit.

I had problems with SureFly and the GRT tach. SureFly was very helpful. Tired lots of fixes. They even sent me a custom built adapter board. But by then I had given up and purchased a sender that went in the magneto. Never tried their adapter.

I have both on my Mooney. No problems. The Tach2 is required.

Perfectly working tachometer made by a defunct company who appear to have abandoned the STC and for which there will be zero support going forward when the workings become less than perfect.

Just saying there might be a blessing in disguise here if this becomes a forced replacement. :)
