My dad and I went to go wash my plane today and afterwards decided to get it dirty again and fly to Brenham for lunch. We got out there and hadn't been sitting down for 5 minutes when I saw an airplane that looked really familiar. I said "That's Jay Honecks airplane!" I ran out to greet them - it's always great to see the Honeck clan.

We had a nice lunch, my dad is usually pretty shy but the topic of RV airplanes came up and he started chatting. (My dad really likes RV 7 and 8As, and wants to buy one when he retires) After lunch I wanted to show Jay, Mary, and Becca the Mooney so we went out to take a look at it. Here's a picture to prove it happened

My dad even stayed in the picture! R to L Jay, myself, Mary, and my dad.

Always a treat to see you and your family Jay - they say you can judge a person by his friends and I reckon I have some of the best friends around.

My dad has actually been flying with me alot more frequently in the Mooney, it hurt his back to sit in the 172 for any more than an hour, but in the Mooney he is fine. (maybe its because it never takes us an hour to fly somewhere anymore)

Sounds like a good time!

What's the procedure for owning and wearing sandals in Texas?

Sandals are the standard footwear year round for me. Everyone owns atleast 1 pair, whether they will admit it or not. I would have been wearing some shorts, except I forgot to put them in the dryer last night so I didn't have any to wear.

Probably the same as anywhere else. You buy them then put them on your feet. :dunno:

David, Is the lunch good at Brenham? I've never stopped there.

I LOVE Brenham. They have the best milkshakes ever, excellent hamburgers, and a cool atmosphere. All of the waitresses wear poodle skirts and are either high school or college students. (Most of them are pretty cute, too.)

Give me a shout if you ever head over there and we'll have lunch sometime.

What's the three letter identifier for Brenham? :dunno:

Shorts and sandals after Thanksgiving? I live in the wrong place. :-(

Becca, Jays daughter took the photo.

Yep, it was a great flight and lunch. We had flown to LaGrange (of ZZ Top fame, just for the hell of it) after stopping in Victoria for cheap(er) gas. Upon finding absolutely nothing and no one in LaGrange -- and starving -- we decided to go on to Brenham (just 30 NM further) for lunch, even though we were just there a week ago.

What an unexpected pleasure to run into David and Chris! We enjoyed a great burger and malt, fun conversation, and got a tour of the new Red Lightning, or whatever final nickname David settles on for his drop-dead gorgeous Mooney.

Thanks for making Texas an even better place to live and fly, David!

I don't... and that's the truth!

~~~~ that was a cool video, I liked the sun dog around the shadow!
Sounds like y'all had a good trip. I have friends who live in brenham, might ought to go over sometime and see them...
Ironically, we've been to Brenham maybe a dozen times, but we've never seen the city. With such a great restaurant on the field, we've never felt the urge to borrow a car and explore the town.
So, even though it's one of our favorite destinations, I know nothing at all about the town.
