Pre-takeoff checklist
This gem of a grass runway on a mountain lake is in the Selkirk Mountains of NE Washington State. It is an absolute joy to fly to, camp and and enjoy the stars since there are no big city lights anywhere in the vicinity. The runway is adjacent to a state campground and there is fresh, potable water by the runway, fire pits and bear boxes for your food. The flight over and back from the Seattle area is a joy as well - at least as long as you can avoid the summer fire season. There were 2 firefighting TFRs along my route to the lake, but a week later there were 5 nearby fires with TFRs. Fire season was late to start this year due to a wet spring, but it is well underway now!
