Student Pilot Log

Do student pilots have a special logbook or are certain entries required for students that are not required for licensed pilots?

Nothing special about the logbook. There will be a few endorsements (e.g. Solo) that are not typically required once one has the private certificate, but flight instructors can write out the endorsements by hand or have a sticker, so that is not an issue.

And if you have a student pilot certificate, you are a "licensed pilot".

and i suggest that you make copies of each page of your logbook as they are completed as well as any endorsements that are written elsewhere in your log. put the copies in a safe place (mine are in our bank’s safe deposit box). you can use the copies to rebuild your log in the event something happens to it.

I’d get a paper log just to keep it simple though. Maybe transition to digital after you get your ticket.

Also good to keep a updated scanned copy on your computer and in a remote server, or as the kids like to call the “the cloud”.
