Recently (this year), I noticed a strange pattern in the caller ID for incoming scam calls.
I made a few phone calls to Washington, DC and about a week later got a lot of spammers/scammed calling me from that area code.
Fast fwd a few months, I made some calls to Portland, OR and voila, week later I am the target of several unsolicited calls from "IRS lawyers", "cruise directors" etc.
Same repeats for the DFW area, Houston, etc.

This seems like way too consistent to be a simple "freaky" coincidence. My guess would be that somebody is collecting our call history and selling it to spoof identities for recently called places to fool the scam target into picking up, thinking "they" are calling back from wherever the mark called before?

Anybody else noticed this or am I the only one? And if I am not crazy and this really isn't coincidence, how do the scammers obtain my phone records? They are not publicly accessible.

Google/Apple selling off your info. They know everything that goes on with your phone.

FWIW, the calls are happening on our Google Voice "land line" (VoIP), not on my old archaic outdated useless flip phone (which costs me whopping $100/year to keep :) ).
So you might be confirming my suspicion that Google is indeed playing the illegal hokey pokey with our private information for monetary benefits. And of course try to take it in front of any judge, you will get laughed out of the court room :)
Why do I feel like a milking cow again? :goofy:
