I just got an email from CitiBank. For those in the storm area, they will temporarily waive these fees:

  • Overdraft protection;
  • Non sufficient funds;
  • Late payment for credit products;
  • Wiring funds to affected Citi customers; and
  • Early CD withdrawal for recovery use.
They will refund their fees if you use a competitor's ATM. (Presumably they won't pay the competitor's fee.)

That's decent if them!:yes:

Just curious Peggy do they define the "affected area"?
Usually in these cases, it's by zip codes. That's what they use in the south after hurricanes and tornados etc.

I don't see that it is defined with one exception.
For our valued CitiMortgage customers in the hardest hit areas as announced by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) this week, we are offering impacted homeowners in these designated areas support for certain fees and payment options.

For customers with mortgage applications in process in the affected areas, there may need to be a re-inspection process, at no cost to the customer, to ensure that there is no damage sustained on the home. Homes without damage will be expedited through the closing process.

I just got an email from Verizon:

Bizav Ready To Help After Sandy
As its members meet in sunny Orlando, NBAA is marshaling efforts to use business aircraft to help with the relief efforts in the storm-tossed Northeast. NBAA hosts the Humanitarian Emergency Response Operator (HERO) database where aircraft owners and operators can volunteer the use of their aircraft for humanitarian aid. Aid organizations use the list to find aircraft appropriate to the missions that might need to be flown. "At the moment, much like the rest of the country, we're waiting to see what the damage is and what efforts will be needed in the hours immediately following the storm's passage," Robin Eissler, president of the Sky Hope Network, told NBAA. "Our focus is specifically on life-saving flights and placing aviation assets where they are needed most."
