Stinson 108-2 Inspection

Any mechanic can do a pre-buy inspection; finding one who specializes in the type or era helps it be more thorough.

EDIT: I realize that was a generalization; you might well find a lazy specialist who does a lousy prebuy compared to a dedicated non-type-specialized mechanic. But it certainly improves your odds to find somebody who has taken time to become familiar with the type in question.

I have a very extensive annual checklist on my web site with references in a word document that will help you with your inspection. It’s on the main web page under Annual Checklist. The site is http://www.stacheair.com

Not all mechanics can do a prepurchase inspections as we are all different in ability and knowledge. From personal knowledge I would recommend a older mechanic that knows and understands round engines/rag covers.

I am not saying Tom is old and gray, but he knows what he is talking about. I would also recommend if you would like to contact me off line I can assist with some information about a certain N-number your are looking at. And yes I am old and gray myself.

The FAA has a real one in FAR 43- D

Jim I have 6 of your RST head sets and have been using them for over 10 years and they work great.. I have been working with the 108-s for a long time, I'd be happy to help.

I answered your PM but did not hear back.

Far, far too general. I make out an inspection checklist tailored to the individual aircraft model and that's what I'm trying to do with the Stinson. I just want to make sure that I haven't missed something specific to the dash-2 that I should be looking at.

And last year was my medicare year. I doubt that you are that gray.

obviously you did not look at Denny's picture on his website :) (No offense Denny)

I've found Denny to be very helpful when it comes to maintenance matters. Always willing to give his opinion, and he also spent a lot of time with me on the phone when I was figuring out operating limitations issues on my glider.
