Have a 66 twin Comanche with a sick autopilot. Was working fine until about a month ago and the ST-360 preselect has been a problem. First on the initial climb as the aircraft goes up the preselect thinks it’s going down. It actually reads negative altitude and likewise doesn’t make it up to the preselect altitude.
Additionally the ST-360 box will lose preselected alt/vs randomly.
Taking it out of the loop the 55x seems to function fine for alt hold or vs hold with the exception of the pitch trim. If the plane sits out in the heat, trim works great. Take it up to 55 degrees or let it sit cold overnight the servo motor spins, 55x control head acknowledge the trim input, but the servo doesn’t engage.
Any ideas out there? Thanks in advance.
