STARS

We've had it for 3 or 4 years. I don't know everything about it but from a controller's point of view it allows you to use several radar antenna to phase the coverage together so if the radar on your air patch goes out, you don't lose all radar. It also has more of a "real time" sweep of the targets, not the 1/4 mile jumps with the old system.
 
@Timbeck2 might be describing FUSION, which is a system that utilizes multiple radar sites to provide a mosaic target. The end result - an average 1 second radar update and more accurate position. STARS, on the other hand, is the software and hardware we use on our radar scopes. It has more tools and aids than the old CARTS system, and since using it here, I can't see going back to CARTS.
