Stafford Airport (GA20) Cumberland Island

Has anyone flown into Cumberland Island in Georgia? Could you tell me what were your experiences like? Did you enjoy it?

I have flown to all of the commercial airports along the coast but not GA20, it is private. I have flown over it many times. You have to get written permission to land there, although I would not hesitate to use it in an emergency. There is not really anything along that section of the island. The Carnegie ruins are further south on the island.

The airport isn't fenced and there are a lot of loose horses n the island. I'd worry about a horse using my airplane as a chew toy.

Yes, if you fly low along the beach on the east side of the island, you can see them sometimes.

My wife and I have horses. Yes, you do have to be careful of vehicles around them. They can really ruin a paint job with their teeth in a hurry.
