Hello, and thanks for taking the time to read my post. Had a bout of cancer that successfully resolved but resulted in chronic headaches. Duloxetine (SNRI), recommended treatment for neuropathy has been extremely successful in managing and almost completely precluding headaches.

Anyone know if there's any "shortcuts" to the standard process if the SNRIs are used for no typical HIMS issues? I do require a 1st class for work.

I'm very much guessing not, but very much hoping so!

I have looked at the standard flow for HIMS related issuances, so if that's what it ends up as I do have some familairity.

Appreciate it, and wish you all well.

Onc writes letter, "he never had any psychiatry issue".
Neurocogntive eval. ($$s)

Special issuance results.

Thank you very much Dr. Chien, sounds like it way be less involved than expected! Should I expect any FAA required 6 follow ups with neuro or other (aside from ONC and any cancer requirements from FAA) for renewal?

Dr. Chien, incredibly grateful for the response and info! If I could I'd beg to press the advantage and ask:

I have an appt scheduled (Jul or first cancellation) with Doc who meets credentialing 'FAA SPECIFICATIONS FOR NEUROLOGIC EVALUATION,' presuming their write up is adequate, would you recommend I reschedule with FAA Aviation Neuropyschologist instead? (aside from neuropathy no neurological or pysch issues)?

At the risk of being greedy, could I also ask If I'd expect additional requirements with subsequent renewals (aside from those already incurred via cancer)?

Really do appreciate the info. The headache was brutal and I'm amazed at how well duloxetine has worked for me. That being said I'd like to get back to work so I'm trying to balance the overhead and time involved in this route vs going back to the drawing board for another solution that might be quicker.

(Sorry for the duplicate replies, I mistook the delay in posting as a user error on my end)

You need BOTH.
