Line Up and Wait
Yesterday evening a friend called to report a Bo down @ DTN. One person shaken up and wet but otherwise OK.
The plane was seen and heard by several people to come over the approach end of 14 at 50' with the engine popping and sputtering. Gear and flaps were up. It was getting lower and slower.
The plane made a 90* decending left turn at the runway end and went behind the trees that border the Red River.
It turned out the planes left wingtip impacted the water and spun the plane 180* and plopped it on the riverbank in about 6' of water.
One person told me the pilot was having gear trouble and was doing a tower fly by but I don't know that for sure...
Anyway; as airplane crashes go this one was one of the "better" ones
