In the PC-12 the prop produces heinous drag if the engine decides to "not". Feathering is how you stretch the glide and is an immediate reaction. It is not automatic. NFW would you be contemplating a restart at 800'.

Unless there is a fuel flow issue, perhaps something like what happened in the KATHON fuel biocide debacle. Filters clog, fuel flow slows.
