Sounds like a lot of scud running going on this morning on the Fisk approach.

When I looked at the AirVenture web cams yesterday evening it was raining then and still looks like rain in the area this morning. I was wondering how it was going to affect the mass arrival flights. I think the Cherokees, Bonanzas and Cessnas have their mass arrivals planned for today if I'm not mistaken.

PS: I just figured out the mass flights were yesterday and they were able to get in before the rain.

The weather is trending up. I was at the local airport(KBUU) this morning and it was already buzzing with activity as planes fueled up for the FISKE arrival.

I loaded up for my early departure tomorrow.

It was nuts. 27 closed again today. Had to hold for about an hour.

We arrived at around noon on Saturday, making an end run around a storm which blocked off most arrivals later in the afternoon.

This morning had a storm too, so there weren't many arrivals until right at noon (we were watching arrivals on 18). But at noon, it turned into a madhouse and has been that way since.

Do you have links for the rest us to listen to?

Yup, ceilings were reported 1100 through about noon and people were still coming. I figure they were flying 700-1000 downwinds.

I also saw a lot of low speed, low altitude, high bank turns turning final to 18. A couple, I got nervous about but nobody lost it. A few did discover they were a bit slow on rollout to final.

This morning...
ATC "can you see the railroad tracks?"
Joe Pilot "here and there but I am not in the clouds" :)
ATC "can you see the road below you?"
Pete Pilot "Here and there following my GPS"
PIilot Sam "Twin over fisk above the clouds coming through a hole"
ATC "Twin that just came out of the clouds what height are the bottoms at"

The unintended entendres are the best!

Can't see the road or railroad tracks, but your not in the clouds? Are we serious or what.

Fisk was a **** show most of the day when I was listening. From what I have gathered there are a **** ton pilots that are ignorant to the fact that there is a NOTAM and special procedures (MPLS ATC that I follow on Twitter reported numerous pilots headed in that did not know of the NOTAM) and/or do not care as evidenced by the countless pilots cutting others off, making s-turns, not going correct speeds, not maintaining following distances and just all around being ignorant or careless.

Due to weather the last couple of days I think a lot of people held off until today to go in which increased traffic (I would love to see the numbers from today) which did not help either. Regardless kudos to the ATCs for handling it all as professionally as they could and to the pilots that did educate themselves and followed it.

I was listening at that time and it was ridiculous. One guy admitted he was down to 500 feet above the ground to see and held off on proceeding due to the storm five minutes later a guy comes in and claims it is fine and dandy.

VATSim or Pilot Edge ought to set up a special sim day for the FISK arrival. Allow folks who are unable to attend to get a taste of the madness.

I was listening early this morning when traffic was *very* light. There was considerably more conversation between the pilots and the controller than there was later in the day. After one aircraft landed, the controller told the pilot, "Good job; exit the runway to the right; welcome to Fond du Lac." There was stunned silence from the pilot for 4-5 seconds before the controller came back in and chuckled, "Just kidding; welcome to Oshkosh."

I think there was a mishap around 6:15 on 36/18, hard landing of some type, very hard.

Yeah. Sounds like non-life threatening injuries. Have not seen what happened or what it was though.

Yeah that was a good one. "Just thought I could get ya there."

Website suggests that airport is now closed to General Aviation parking? That was quick! I was planning to attend but probably won't bother if it's not possible to fly in.

You can still fly in as long as you are going camp. The GA Parking is meant for those with hotels, other arrangements and those coming and going on the same day. GA camping (north 40, south 40, homebuilts, Vintage etc.) is still open except to twins.

Yeah, I was planning to come for the day. Not much of a fly-in if there's no parking for people who want to fly in! Looks like they chose a bad time to do airport construction.

Basically said if you are coming for the day there is no place to park maybe later if some people leave. There are still some camping spots. There is no room for twins. At least that is what they said when I was listening to ATC This morning.

Camping now full as of this morning. Hoping to have mechanical issue fixed and arrive between 7-8 with a spot on the north 40 available. Trying to think back to past years when it clears out but hoping wednesday morning worst case....
